Unutulmuş halk hikâyelerini yaşlı yerli halktan dinliyor, tarihi onlara soruyor ve ulaştığı tüm bu bilgileri kaynaklar ile karşılaştırıyor. Değişik Sloven festivallerinden yemeklerine kadar ülkenin kültürünü ve yerel hayatı tanıtıyor. Tüm bu deneyimlerini blogunda yazıyor. THE MAGİC TREE İN MY MOTHER’S GARDEN

-Pistacia terebinthus –
Pistacia terebinthus: commonly known as terebinth and turpentine tree, is a species of Pistacia, from the Gum tree family that has grown in ancient lands for thousands of years.

It grows in many parts of our country, but it is known for its spontaneous growth especially in the mountainous areas of the Mediterranean, Southeastern Anatolia, and Central Anatolia regions. It is a plant that can reach up to 10 meters in length and has a slow growth feature.

In Turkey, it is known as menengiç or bıttım.
I recently discovered what a magic tree in our garden is like. This colorful leafy tree, which I often encounter in the region where we live, attracted my attention. Then we had a chat with my mother about the benefits of this plant.
It can grow almost everywhere in Turkey except the cold regions. The tree is a source of healing.

There is Health All Over It
It is one of the medicinal plants naturally presented to humans with its alternative benefits from the seeds, leaves, fruits, roots, and shells. The terebinth benefits human health individually.
A herb that has been used in medicine for alternative medicine since ancient times, is consumed in salads, pickles, and spices in kitchens.

It is used in the food industry with its pleasant scent. Terebinth grains are consumed as fruits. These fruits are dried to make coffee. Local and natural soaps, called bıttım soap, are obtained from its oil.

It contains high amounts of iron, potassium, calcium, protein, vitamins A and C.

SOME OF THE AREAS OF USE:

Resin from terebinth:
The gum obtained from the resin formed in the branches of the plant is very useful for stomach and kidney health when mixed with honey and consumed.
Pistachio From The Seeds:
This plant, which you can obtain from the market and herbals under the name of menengiç seeds, is also called wild pistachio in some regions. Freshly consumed seeds can be eaten as a snack by light roasting.

The seeds are fresh:
The seeds eaten fresh, on the other hand, protect the nutritional value, thus reducing the risk of developing the most deadliest diseases such as cancer.

Tea from the leaves:
Besides, its leaves having many beneficial ingredients for health. At this point, boiling and drinking tea from its leaves will naturally treat many ailments.

Oil from seeds:
The pressed oil obtained by tightening the hedgehog with the Press method provides healing of the wounds, relieves abdominal pain and helps the kidney stones to fall, is good for skin and hair problems.

Fruit from the seed:
The fruit obtained from the Menengiç plant is very rich in vitamins and minerals.

Coffee from fruits:
Coffee, which is obtained by drying and roasting the fruit and then grinding it, is very rich in vitamins A, B6, C and E and supports the healthy processing of the cells. With these features, it is almost a youth potion.

You can easily prepare this delicious healing in your home and consume it pleasantly. We made the salad of terebinth with my mother and ate this delicious salad accompanying our dinner. In the short video, you can see its journey from our garden to dinner.

• TEREBINTH SALAD
• Thoroughly wash the herbs.
• Add some salt and boil until soft.
• Strain the boiled flaking water and let it cool.
• Prepare the sauce with garlic, lemon, olive oil and salt. Pour the sauce you prepared and mix your salad.
