Ayşegül Karaali

I am just a curious person who likes nature and sports, hikes up to the mountains and jumps into the cold waters, runs in the forests and travels as much as possible. I am Aisha, a 23 year old Turkish girl, born and raised in Istanbul. Three years ago I moved to Slovenia with my little sister. We planned to stay in Slovenia for a year so that she could study and I could improve my English. After a while, I decided to continue with my studies in Slovenia. Started studying the language, and now I Iive and study in this beautiful country. I explore the country and its culture while still improving both English and Slovene. Here, I am going to share my stories with you. Join me through the adventure.

A Short Trip to Krvavec Veliki Zvoh (1972)

One of the good things about Slovenia that you can hike, cycle or run in the early morning then go to work. It’s very common for Slovenians to spend some time in nature before working. Also, they might go after work. İn any case life is more quality if you can organize your day and do something for yourself.

I am telling you because the trip which we did the last time is a good example of this situation. My Slovenian friend told me that he had a meeting at 10 am so we had plenty of time before his meeting.

We decided to go to an impressive trail of Krvavec, called “Veliki Zvoh” is the highest point of the Krvavec skiing area.

A very dreamful location from its summit. You will amaze by the beautiful landscapes on all the mountain in the main ridge of Kamnik Alps group, Karavanke / Karawanken group and Julian Alps group.

We planned to greet the sunrise on the hill in pure silence and peace. The next day we could manage to start from Ljubljana at 5.30 am even though we were late. It was still early but late for the sunshine. Sun comes up very fast. We had the best view on the way from Ljubljana to Krvavec. The next time we should start maybe at 4 am in the morning. (in the dusk)

We were taking the same road for the second time to Krvavec. It has been a year and as I remember It was not a hard peak.

But it’s different, every time of the year depending on the weather and your condition. This time It seemed qıite steep and snowy.  Luckily I had trail shoes for snow running and felt confident on every step. I should let you know that It would not be easy without proper shoes at all. Even with my shoes, this trail was not as easy as they marked because of the snowy steeps.

On the white snow, on the hills, we walked towards the summit.

The sound of snow rustling at every step. My friend who leads me in front of me, running like a child, already a little bit high on the way. I am trying to pay attention to my steps but as I go higher I feel a bit dizzy too. Just because of the atmosphere.

A few meters below the peak, a lake was made, which is intended for the need of artificial snow. Be sure to climb to the cross or to the bench in the box with a stamp, as a wonderful view opens to the entire Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

When we arrived at the top of it. (Veliki Zvoh) It was so hot. Sun was over us and the snow on the ground. We took our sock off. Then we felt the great athomsphere of the peak, walked a bit and enjoyed with the sun.

To be in on the top, to be in nature, to feel exhausted and all of them makes you a little tipsy, dizzy. You will understand better when you watch the video. I was just as happy as a kid.

You will even understand better if you hike on a sunny day when it’s still snowy. It’s like a journey to another dimension where your perception changes.

Nature is calling us with all its beauties. This is just a beginning. Nature invites me to more beautiful places.

If You Decide To Go There:

Difficulty: Poorly marked, orientation-less demanding route. Some ascents are much steeper than you think winter is when you ski them.

At the time you approach Krvavec, you can go from Dom na Gospincu and the other can take the macadam road to Kriška planina.

Kriška Planina – Veliki Zvoh: 1 hour 15 minutes
Return: 1 hour
Total: 2 hours in a half
Krvavec: 1853 m
Veliki Zvoh: 1971 m
Height difference
530 m

Note: The best time of the year for visiting in the beautiful and clear days from spring to autumn.
